On April 9, 2018, an online conference was held at Sorbonne-Kazakhstan Institute, on the subject: "The concept of dialogue in the modern world: philosophical reflection and practical application".

The aim of the conference was to intensify intellectual and academic discussions to tackle the issue of questions related to the concept of dialogue and to its practical application.

The online conference was held thanks to Kazakhstan and UNESCO initiatives in the context of the international decade for the rapprochement of cultures (2013-2022), as well as in the context of the development of digital education "Digital Kazakhstan".

The online conference was dedicated to discussing the following key-subjects:

1) comprehension of the concept of dialogue in its normative and specific significations, used in various cultures;

2) practical application of dialogue in education and intercultural communication;

3) diffusion of better practices and practices in the field of intercultural dialogue in the secondary and higher education system, especially using the online platform "Intercultural dialogue" as a unique innovating digital resource that does not have any equivalent in the world yet.

The participants to the conference were:

• Almaty schools associated to UNESCO;
• the International Department Network of UNESCO/UNITWIN "Intercultural dialogue for interreligious comprehension";
• the UNESCO Centre for the merging of cultures (Almaty);
• the UNESCO Departments Partners at Almaty (KazNPU named after Abay Journalism Department);
• Sorbonne-Kazakhstan Institute;
• UNESCO headquarters, Programme for social changes and intercultural dialogue (Paris);
• the UNESCO Regional Committee for Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan in Almaty;
• the Kazakhstan-India Fund (Almaty)
