On January 25, 2018, the Night of Ideas was held at the Sorbonne-Kazakhstan Institute, a large-scale event where scientists, journalists, public figures, artists, politicians discuss the problems of the present day together, in French. This is the second Night of Ideas organized by the French Embassy in Kazakhstan and the French Alliance.
This year, at the event, a debate took place with the participation of our students on the topic "The owner of a city facility has complete freedom in making architectural decisions." The team of first-year undergraduate Nursultan Kambar defended the freedom of property in the city's dwelling, with which the team of Master student Azamat Zhailaubayev strongly disagreed. The guys defended their points of view and brought weighty arguments on a professional level. As a result, Azamat's team won. All participants received valuable prizes. And the best participant in the debate won a ticket to Paris.
In addition, the event also hosted two discussion panels on the topic of modern urbanistics. In the panels, the vice-president of INALCO Anne Grinberg, the vice-president of the Paris-Diderot University Antoine Cazé, the ISK scientist Laura Turarbek, the fashion designer Hayklemi took the ceremony. Director of IFEAC Katrin Pujol, researcher Adrian Fov, director of Forbes Kazakhstan Ardak Bukeeva, art critic Valery Ibraeva, biologist Gilles Boff, urbanist Anel Moldahmetova. The moderator of the session was Botagoz Seydakhmetov.
